Little preview of the show!

Heres a bg from a shelved project - the sketches were mostly used to figure out the composition/ style of the project.

Here is a little preview of whats going to be in Gifted Artist show (I'll show the full version once the show is over!) so I painted all these specifically for the show and they are one time prints. They were a lot of fun to paint!

Coo! So this piece is for the group over at Part Time Dreamers and the subject was “Opera”. The first thing that came to my mind was the scene in Amadeus when Salieri is describing Mozart’s work. The beauty and complexity of one instrument taking over another and finally coming together to complete the song. So I wanted to show the process of an Opera.

Last Friday Marcelo Vignali was kind enough to invite me out to the Sketch Club for lunch (man those guys can freakin draw!) so here’s a few drawings from my sketch book.

Finally, todays my birthday…and I manage to pull my back really bad. I been spending the whole day just hunched over like an old man (I see the irony in this happening today) The shower is a true story, I couldn’t stand for that long so I just had to sit there…….so sad.

I really wanted to help out my gf Traci Honda and Rona Liu since they are graduating but they’ll understand! ...I hope. Congratulations you guys!

There's still a few days until Halloween, so if you can't find a cool costume- maybe give Zardoz a chance! If you haven't seen this fine film (which makes a fine drinking game with friends) check it out....you'll be pleasantly surprise who the main actor is. I know I was!

Update!

Update time! Our new cat is growing like crazy! (Jess forer) suggested "Otterpop" and we just stuck with it. He's really active kind of cat and loves to attack “play” with Addy , whom generally wants to be left alone, while Otterpop demands attention all the time...matter of fact -she turned out to be a He. The dr. said "he wasn't much of a boy". It was quite a shock for all of us haha

The other two images are just environments, done for James Paik class (he's so freakin fast gah!) I really need to practice sci-fi more. thanks Jackson for all the advice!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Wooo I haven't posted in a long time! Things have been really busy lately, I been doing freelance- working at Imagineering and now I'm teaching part time at an AI school. I figure it wouldn't be that bad- after all I TA so many art center classes........oh man I found a whole new respect for teachers to so many levels. Anyways- have a safe and happy holidays everyone!

So this is a quick speed painting we did at class. (15-20mins max) I think the topic was "rock creatures coming out of the ground) This is Jackie who works at the animation archives (really nice girl!) A lot of the images in the new book "Story" the archives series was scanned by her.

NEWS UPDATE!
The school I'm teaching at is going to have a workshop on the Jan 6th with Steven Silver and Bill Perkins- and it's FREE! Sadly I'm going to miss this event by 1 day (my flight comes in a day after uuug) but you guys should sign up for it! Hope this helps someone.

New meber in the house!

Well we got another kitten to play with our cat "Addy". We came up with several names such as: Battle star, Otter pop, Bicycle, chubacabra "chubby" for short, leopluradon and Isis! She doesn't seem to respond to any of these names, but perhaps soon she will have a name to be proud of!

Work is really tiring

I been really busy lately these past few weeks because I work for Disney's Imagineering -Research and Development wooo. So before everything became crazy here is some old landscape painting I started before I took the gig. Digital and on location - The frogs are just random characters I wanted to explore more- wish I could take it further actually hah

Amulet is out!

Yay Amulet is out! ...ok it's been out for a little while. Buuuuut~! I had a chance to work at Kazu's studio and work with a ton of talented people like Chris Appelhans, Katy Wu , Aree Chung , Dave Au , Dawn Fujioka and Sho Katayama. Amulet 2 seems to be on its way too !

Vacation time!

Yay vacation time! I'm just about wrapping up my 2 week vacation in kauai- which is an amazing island! I'm gona miss these Ono sandwiches.

In anycase these are two images I did for my style class (top image is the complete scene and the lower image is the beat board/color keys)

well I'm playing TF2 and Call of Duty 4 which is really creepy but such an eye candy game. I love distractions on holidays- Happy holidays everyone!

pretty much done with classes for this term! yay! more junk to post later -now its drinky time. plus I'm 25 now- getting closer to death !

wooo update

Time for another update! Midterms are just about over I think.....at least I hope so. Here some stuff from various classes n such.

A few Alice design- I couldn't figure out if I wanted to go more cartoon network style/or french animation style. In the end I think I made a mix of the two . In my version of Alice in Wonderland , Alice is a small Gypsy child who wonders into wonderland which is run by mechanical toys.
I guess I just wanted to plug in what we had to do for this assignment: You had to draw in Frazzato styl so first you do a sketch- then you go over it with graphite dust-then you scan it in and finally sprinkle a little photoshop magic on it and then do a draw through....in one week....with 5 other classes breathing down you're neck. It was tough but I learned a lot so it was worth it.

Holy god damn Christmas I have internet again! Since we moved to a new place we pretty much haven’t had any internet for a month. All i can say is ATNT customer service is by far the worst beast we ever had to face. Pretty amazing me and my roommates didn’t go wildly insane.

Anyways back to posting junk/throw away sketches yay!
